Syma X1 is a unique quadcopter designed to help new pilots learn the art of flying a drone. With two flying modes and a 3-axis flight management system with adjustable gyro sensitivity that enhances stable flight, you will have plenty of fun learning how to fly this drone. It is possible to use this drone for professional 3-dimensional maneuvers. Syma X1 is shipped in a ready-to-fly package comprising a 4-channel 2.4 GHz remote controller, a lithium polymer battery, a USB charger, and spare propeller blades. So all you need to do is read the instructions, charge the 3.7V lithium polymer batteries, fix in the transmitter batteries and you can start to fly your quadcopter. Here is a short Syma X1 review to provide vital information you should know about this drone.
This quadcopter was designed to withstand several crashes. It is made of metal and plastic but it is very durable. The Syma X1 has a very attractive pod and cross axle design. The pod is adorned with red, white and black while two different colors (white and black) are used for the propellers. This makes it easier for you to determine the orientation of the drone when it is flying in mid-air. Due to its dimensions – 14.2 x 2.4 x 14.2 inches – this quadcopter is more ideal for outdoor flying unless you have a relatively large space where you can fly indoors without hitting obstacles often. While flying outdoors, avoid flying in the wind because the drone weighs only 1.3 pounds and it can easily be driven away by the wind especially at a high altitude.
- 3D flips, stability and agility in flight makes it super simple to perform professional 3D maneuvers like pirouettes 3D fun flips, rolls and more
- 3-axis flight control system with adjustable gyro sensitivity will give you super stable flight
- With use of the newer 2.4Ghz technology, the SYMA x1 has strong anti-interference that lets you fly more helicopters at the same time
- Newer 2.4Ghz radio control also has longer control distance, small power consumptionand rapid response to easily giving you the most control
- Additional features: speed up mode, 360° eversion, flies both indoors and outdoorsand removable battery
Syma X1 has four fixed-pitch rotors. Each rotor is driven by a small electric motor coupled directly to it. The electric motors receive their share of battery power through the four square carbon fiber tubes that stick out from the pod. Within the pod, you can find the main circuit board and battery mount. The thin hard plastic body that covers the pod comes in either round UFO or spaceship style. To enhance your flying experience, this quadcopter has two flying modes: normal speed and high-speed mode. In the normal speed mode, the controls are responsive but not so fast that they end up crashing the quadcopter often. In high-speed mode, an intermediate level pilot can enjoy more exciting stunts and get the drone to maneuver with ease due to the faster response of the quadcopter and the transmitter.
Syma X1 has a pilot-friendly remote controller. This four-channel 2.4 GHz controller has a rubber antenna that does not break easily. It can work in either Mode 1 or Mode 2 and mode switching can be done using the mode switch. The LCD display provides vital information including the battery level, altitude, and speed of the drone. Trimming the controller is very easy with the fine-tuning buttons for both throttle and forward/backward movement. To use this transmitter, you need to put in 4 AA batteries. According to the specification of the manufacturer, the flight range or controlling distance is about 30 meters. But when flying outdoors, take adequate precautions and make sure you can always see the drone while you are flying it. Once the drones start becoming too small to see, you are in danger of losing it completely because the wind can carry it away.
A 3.7V 350 mAh lithium polymer battery is shipped with Syma X1. This battery takes over 40 minutes to charge fully depending on the charging current you use and how low the charge in the battery was before you started charging it. When the battery is fully charged it can keep the quadcopter flying for about 6 to 10 minutes. If you are new to flying and you only hover the quadcopter and make short forward flights at a relatively low speed, you will enjoy a longer flying time. But intermediate level pilots may not be able to get more than 6 minutes of flying time, especially when they do some professional maneuvers like 3D flips and rolls, or when they use the 360-degree reversion feature.
- Design and ease of use
Conclusion & Editor Overall Rating
The Syma X1 is a relatively flawless quadcopter for a beginner, so it is an excellent option for someone who is just starting out with the RC quadcopter flying hobby. All the controls on the transmitter are easy to use and they resemble the kind of controls that are usually found on professional hobby-grade transmitters. Hence, this drone provides great value at a very low cost.
