The ‘GalaxyBoard, Self Balancing Hoverboard’ is one of the newest iterations when it comes to these ‘hoverboards’ and we are going to test how it feels.
It seems that these self-balancing boards are here to stay. We are seeing new product releases in this sector continuously, and more importantly, we have actually started to see these things in real life on the street. While Segway segued from novelty to joke, self-balancing boards are having a much better time. The ‘Galaxy Board’ is one of the newest iterations when it comes to these ‘hoverboards’ and we are going to test how it feels. We have already reviewed other boards so we know what to expect, let’s see what the GalaxyBoard has for us in store.

The aspect which stands out the most in the specifications is the 12mph speed. If you haven’t tried a hoverboard before and think 12mph is slow, you’ll be very surprised once you ride it. 12mph is very fast for a device made for walking. We previously tried another hoverboard which had a maximum speed of 10mph and it felt blazing fast, so we can only imagine how fast 12mph will feel. The charging time and battery are standard. 15 miles estimated distance is slightly better than what we usually see in these gadgets.
The design is simple and to the point. It looks cool and there are many color variations available. We liked the black ones and the green ones the best but that’s something that’s up to your own taste. The LED lights are great. They illuminate the path in from of you slightly. They’re more for alerting others that you’re going to whiz by and for looking good. We have to say that the lights really make the whole thing look very futuristic. The fact that you’re on a hoverboard going fast is futuristic enough in itself but the lights really highlight the point as well. There are anti-slip protectors on the pedals and you are going to need them at the speeds this board can reach.
The build quality of the Galaxy Board is fine. It isn’t anything exceptional but it seemed sturdy enough during our testing period. If we have any complaint, it’s that the paint below the board is very prone to scratches. Obviously, that is because of the terrain hitting it at times; however, we do wish it was of better quality. This is a really minor complaint though since the paint isn’t even visible due to it being below the board.
No matter how cool it looks, the most important part is how it rides. We can easily say that this board is one of the fastest that we have seen. 12mph may not sound like much, but it is very fast.
The average person walks at around 3 miles per hour and runs at 10 miles per hour. That means you’re going at almost the maximum running speed of people and you’re doing it without getting exhausted at all. We actually had to restrain ourselves when using the device indoors because if we pressed it for maximum speed it would cover distances instantaneously. We were only able to unleash its full speed once we went outside, and it felt very satisfying!
The battery is made by Samsung and the quality shows. The battery is 4400 mAh and you get around 15 miles out of it. We think a bigger battery could have fit easily in the device but the current one is fine. Do keep in mind that this figure will change depending on how much weight is on the board and what sort of terrain you’re on. If you’re going up on a slope the speed and duration of the board will decrease. It takes around 2 hours for the battery to charge fully.
Pros and Cons
- Great design
- Blazing fast speed
- Good quality battery
- Paint below the board scratches easily
- The battery only 4400 mAh
Is it worth it?
We have been seeing many variations in these boards and the Galaxy Board is one of the better models we have tested. Minor gripes aside the device are fast and dependable. The build quality is fine. The devices are new, we are sure over the coming years the batteries will get bigger.
